Valleo boost for NHS

A new service will improve patient outcomes and reduce pressures on the NHS.

Valleo – www.valleo.com – has been launched by leading medical products distributor Algeos to ensure that clinicians are able to prescribe products easily and that patients are able to receive them quickly.

Valleo launched for the first time at Physiotherapy UK 2015 with clinicians provided with branded prescription pads. Clinicians use the pads to tick the products they want to prescribe and then hand the form to the patient. The patient then has the choice of ordering via the website, by phone or by post.

Every order can be tracked back to the prescribing NHS Trust and holds the patient’s information for future reference.

Deals are available on products, such as Slimflex insoles, allowing patients to purchase multiple pairs to ensure they can wear them in all of their shoes, thereby improving outcomes.

Hugh Sheridan, CEO of ALG, which includes Algeos, said: “Valleo has two principal objectives – firstly to improve patient outcomes and, secondly, to help clinicians keep control of NHS budgets.

“The clinician remains pivotal in ensuring that the patient is being prescribed the best possible products, while the patient has the right information to be able to buy the life-enhancing products they require.

“Valleo will help to save the NHS money, money which can be used elsewhere in order to reduce patient waiting lists. We will be able to demonstrate to clinicians exactly what the cost savings are for their respective Trusts because we will know how many patients have ordered products via Valleo which previously would have been a cost to the NHS.”

Sitting behind the Valleo website is the Algeos team which includes experienced podiatrists, physios and other clinicians. There is also a full customer support service and hotline. The brand’s strapline is “Be Well. Be Fit. Be Strong.”
